so grateful to grow up
at the tail end of sane

I want peace and equality
not crazy ruthless morons

I am a relic - an anachronism, faded, a thing of little value -
I still write checks, drive a stick, and code command-line scripts

I am about to retire.
For now, I just too often tire.

demotion for some
exaltation for me

(wishing the latter for you)

if it were not for retirement I would be an ancient letter carrier
and would have never known the immense joys of paints and canvases

retirement had its challenges -
I had to relearn how to be Me

had big plans to travel
covid hit 2 weeks later

had plans to hang my photography on coffee shop walls -
then I found out what decent photofinishing cost

Had big plans to travel across the country.
I left on 9/10/01, then September 11th happened.

my new job was hiking and listening to live music
did a pretty damn good job of both

but now for all intents and purposes deaf and lame
good thing i didn't waste time twiddling my thumbs
