I tied two secret messages
in perfect little bows
around the scaly skinny legs
of Autumn-on-the-go—

a little Robin Redbreast thrush
who needs no legs to fly;
a Turdus migratorius
who wouldn't question why—

and one of these two messages
explained my need for love,
but, oh, the other message sent?—
what was that message of?
