Nevada (again), with rain, or without..

Post by mnaz »

just some point-and-shoot images from "the vault". I remember those moments well.

Image

No rain. The "Long Branch Saloon" (or what's left of it), in Luning. (Cecil, I thought of you when I clicked this one)...

Image

Rain. Simpson Park Mountains, storm comin' down.

Image

After rain. Railroad Valley, heart of Nevada.

Image

Rain gone. Bluewing flat in the depth of its bone-dry swelter...

I miss that Nevada place.

Seems like it couldn't possibly exist
sometimes, when I'm busy making a living..

Good god I remember that storm though..

Yeah Arcadia, I always wondered about that too. Simpson Park?? Apparently Simpson Park was an old Pony Express station, built in 1860, attacked by Indians and burned to the ground that same year, rebuilt and used by the Overland Stage & Mail Co., then relocated south and west to somewhere near the town of Austin, just off current-day Highway 50...
