If I could turn my thoughts into words,
flush these drugs that make such empty promises,
these substances that calm my soul

but fail to deliver the goods,
my addiction would fade
like the lilting colors of the leaves

when the spirits of winter return.
If I could let the words roll off my tongue
they might saturate your soul.

If I could touch your heart with my hand,
you would feel the passion behind my eyes.
It would be so easy......if I could.
