NO WHITMAN

i remember sade
first introduced to me by mary, the woman who wrecked my marriage
i wrecked my marriage with her
it was me of course
me
only me
sade sang of infidelities and "smooth operators"
i wasn't that
but i was something
something worse in the end
i did it for love
crazy notion
did it for love
i did it for mary's thighs
i did it for her mouth and nipples
for the things she taught me about myself
about my own body and heart and soul
tough lessons
destroyed my innocence
sade was right there in the middle of it
i once called mary the "whitman woman of sex"
yeah
that's what i called her
but in the end
she wasn't

glad I never married. never felt right. probably wouldn't have lasted. not necessarily due to infidelity. but... something would have come up. yeah, something.. yeah, I remember sade..
