but I've have learned firsthand anyone can be duped

trust is a funny thing (not humorous)
it's either there or it is not
and if it is not there, well
betrayal is about the worst damn thing

I ever felt
there's a little embarrassment
for not seeing it sooner
then there's the raw anger that creeps like an invasive species

followed by this shower of sadness,
you feel the loss
of the thing that wasn't real to begin with,
and as I mentioned earlier
