lotsa luck

Post by saw »

there's a lot of luck
in longevity, a stranger
pulls you from the path
of the bus of destiny
or maybe a friend gives you
good advice, forks in the road
known or unknown, flips
of coins that spin around
on their edge like a top
gone amok, careening against
a wall, whirling like water
going down the drain to spill
your fate, What
can I take credit for, What was
simply miraculous, What
was utterly random, What
was a celestial gift, what was
a lightning strike for good reason....
I don't really want to hear the answers
i already know I had little or nothing
to do with it, free will is a talking point...
we make our decisions believing
we are shrewd and independent
and live with the mysterious aftermath
the cocktail shaken.... not stirred
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism
