On the playa, dry gusts like unseen goblins.
Two mustangs are watching on shimmer.
Sorrel sheen in pale badlands.
Warrior spirits as still as rock.
The horses, their eerie power,
their rich color of nobility,
though long in servitude,
to haul countless two-legged
schemers on their illusion trails.

One of the reasons I like Nevada so much-- the horses, their color and scale out of nowhere against wide-open glow. Seven of them "followed" me along a trail for about a half-mile or so one time. Seemed like they were amused by my truck's struggle to get through a rough stretch. They moved so much more easily across that terrain than I ever could...

just returned from Assateague Island on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.....the wild horses are a treasure to behold....the landscape much different than the desert of course, but impressive in its own way[attachment

Thanks saw. Great shot. Need to be in range of water to live. Like us. Kinda strange that I've seen these creatures out in the desert, but they could cover a lot of ground and they knew where to find water, maybe just beyond the next ridge.
