when hope springs

how far is too far ?
is hope always within reach
or does it mock us, sit out there
on the hood of our starship
taunting a vision
like an MC Escher drawing,
our fingers coming up empty,
our minds bamboozled again
as we stretch to grab
a handful of air

can hope spring ?

eternally tempting..........
batting her false eyelashes
pouting her wet lips,
red fingernails curling
in sequence, that come-hither
temptation.....wait !
she's looking at me right now,
and as I know all to well
one touch
and I'm back in her arms
