A.I., as in believing in
Truth all these centuries.
It won't get us past earth
with these wars going on,
but maybe someday.

for many seniors, we grew up trusting
believing in this thing dubbed The American Dream
we grew up believing we were the good guys
every native american was a savage,
we trusted the prevailing narrative
later we believed our employer would never
expose us to toxins, but my boss never mentioned
cutting asbestos shingles with a Carborundum blade
would leave a possibly lethal coating of white dust on me
from head to toe, and in the Navy my commander never mentioned
the ship was loaded with friable asbestos either
we trusted we were safe on-board ship
the travels through the years expose more than that
Our eyes are forced to see new angles, become wary of new dangers
We have had cynicism thrust upon us like a wet blanket
sorry for the rambling response...it just came out this way this morning
it is rainy and battleship gray in Baltimore

I, too was in the USN ('65-'69), Guam and the USS Coral Sean - CVA 43... I'll never forget that time.
My only truly wonderful memory was being home docked in SFCA during 67-68... a blown mind came out alive.

that way i will not be disappointed.
but always am.
continue with some little hope, perhaps.
as for nature...not sure better always = improved, for the composite. many examples of invasive destruction. almost akin to thoughtless human greed?

data (they say) is now more valuable than oil or gold.
surely, perhaps, because that (in similar but different) ways
that leads to
POWER?
and i can see that an organic impulse is needed to drive an AI in the first place.
Then it becomes (who) has the control?
however. organically, the path to natural implosion is too "well" travelled to reverse.
only possibly slowed.
but unlikely.
as acceleration exponential.

That guy hits so many nails on the head it's unreal. We wish it were unreal at least.
I wrote this little gripe with a sort of "religion as artificial intelligence" mindset. I guess the Capital-Industrial Machine is a prime example. The biggest one yet... Yet we've become so deeply intertwined with it.
It’s now clear to me that “not scaring the horses” is as irresponsible as standing in a burning building selling wet napkins instead of shouting fire.
Anyone who has made any serious attempt at following the logic through realises we are actually campaigning against industrial colonialist civilisation. For anybody in the industrialised world, this is the source of all our wealth. It’s what pays all our wages. Good luck sawing down the tree branch you are sitting on.
Pretty grim outlook. Though I'd like to think we bacteria are more self-aware and capable of at least some degree of self-regulation than microbial hordes...By now, the Earth’s immune system has rightly identified us as a virus. It’s firing up its antibodies and stimulating a fever to rid itself of the disease. We are like any other organism. Much like bacteria, with access to an abundant energy source — in our case, fossil fuels — we fill up our petri dish. We engulf or expel everything else. When we run out of energy and resources to exploit, the overblown population crashes back to something manageable; or it dies off completely. It’s not evil, it’s just the way life works.
