first sunlight
now reaches
my bedroom window


mounds of earth
where once stood
snowbanks


naked saplings
each spidery twig
tipped with green


ovenbirds
sounding the all-clear
from the woods


finally
coats and gloves
back to storage
 

spring rushes by
in this part of texas
summer starts early
but it's all good becaus Hank sung it that way

to get a quick walk
in between the rain showers
keep a close watch
