Had Adam any sexuality
when loneliness was not emotion, but
ontology— when selfishness was all
a man could simply be? Had Adam love
in physicality beyond himself
or lone in narcissistic jerk before
his body rent ejaculated love
and sex, compassion, partnership above
all creatures known? But what could he adore
that wasn’t hidden deep within himself,
that later formed divine the eve of love?
If Adam loved himself alone, what fall
of touch and sense and infant joy!— what gut
reaction holds such possibility?
