The only thing I could say is that they were treating a world famous American poet, writer and social critic. Not unlike H.L. Mencken and Henry Miller.they were about to be treating a world famous poet, writer and social critic.
I suppose that sounds like hubris maybe a minor qualification but I have been thinking a lot about what it is to be an American lately. It seems like politicians want to come up with their own meanings for what it is.
