Hi all!

We got our notification today that our application to participate in the first Capital Fringe Festival in Washington DC has been accepted!

Read more about the Inaugural Capital Fringe Festival here
http://capfringe.org

We are scheduled as follows - We will do two 1-1/2 hour shows.

Where?
The Warehouse Theater
Main Stage
1021-21 7th Street NW
Washington, DC 20001
http://www.warehousetheater.com/

When?
The last two days of the festival!
Two shows -
1) Saturday, July 29, 2006 - 5PM - 6:30PM
2) Sunday, July 30, 2006 - 8PM - 9:30PM

We presented a Cabaradio Show at the Warehouse Theater once before.
Read about it here.
http://studioeight.tv/events/cabaradio1/cabaradio1.html

We also performed another Cabaradio show at the
Arlington Independent Media Cable TV Station
You can read about it here
http://studioeight.tv/events/cabaradio2/cabaradio2.html

What is Cabaradio?
Cabaradio is performed in a talk show format. Usually Lightning Rod plays the Letterman role and I play his sidekick. (We may reverse those roles this time. We haven't decided yet.) It is a variety show. We have spoken word poets, stand-up comics, live music, dance, and novelty acts.

Show Planning
We are very excited to be part of the first Capital Fringe Festival! This will be our very first Studio Eight dot TV live performance!

Now that we know the venue location and dates and times, we can begin planning.

Please post to this thread if you are interested in being part of the show and let us know in what capacity you'd like to perform.

Please note that your commitment to perform in the show must be a solid one. We cannot plan a show without knowing whether you are sure you can be here.

We will use this thread for initial planning to get commitments from out-of-towners. After the initial stage of planning, we will use email to further plan the shows.

Once the show is full, it is full.

We also have local performers who will be participating so the sooner we know whether you want in, the better.

Rehearsal & Accomodations
If you end up being selected to be in the show, we will discuss the possibility of renting a cabin nearby Studio Eight dot TV World Headquarters in the Virginia suburbs of DC for out-of-towners to share and split the costs. There are also a myriad of hotels in the city.

All cast members must also plan to attend rehearsals. We don't know yet when we will have access to the theater to rehearse there in advance, however we can rehearse in another location.

Out-of-towners who are selected to be in the show should plan on being here Thursday, July 27th - Sunday, July 30th.

Let's Do the Fringe, Cabaradio Style!

Whatchya say? Wanna play?

I will still be in exile in the midwest from my Metro DC roots...but you've got my prayers and support! :) Way to go, Studio Eight!

Very glad you're in!
Will be a fabulous edition of cabaradio, this is a certainty.

Have absolutely no idea if i'll be around n. america this summer or not, but if possible, i'll crash the doors to watch.

suggestion box: is there a good stand-up comedian in your midst? it would be so nice to hear poet style stand-up.

FANTASTIC! I'd like to put my name on the ballot as a spoken word performer. I've got one or two verbal spewings that would be perfect for a Cabaradio unveiling. Would also be a good excuse to return east for a bit. Totally stoked imagining hanging out in a cabin jamming out with some fellow steighters.

D, I'm so excited! You know how upset I was when I missed the last one, so another chance to jump on board is just what the doctor ordered. I just got a second gig as a "lead card girl" where I basically pester people to do surveys and give information to be on mailing lists for parties and clubs and whatnot which is lame, but I only work 3 night a week so whatever... anyway, the point is, the second gig gives me more money w/which to travel (i make more there than at my other job) and I can request the time off in advance so count me in. I wanna read some performance pieces, that's all. Do keep me posted!

Post by Lucy! » February 28th, 2006, 12:31 pm

I'm THERE!
I'll pack my bag full of poetry and head over to where its happening- Doreen ,you asked me some time ago to join and here I am, telling you I can make it whether my job likes it or not, I will be free from school and I can let my beatnik heart roam the way it was intended to do.
I can't wait, tell me what I should do and I'll do it. Haven't done a show is so long and I am so excited...

joel - wish you could be here! Maybe something will change so you can come. :)

judih - crossing my fingers you can come to the US... and yes, we will have stand-up comedy in the show... hopefully one of the performers we heard last week will be free to perform... she blew me away she was so good... poetry & comedy combined! :)

yabyum- we'd love to have you come do some spoken word! you're performances are always dynamic! mark your calendar... i'm putting you on the email list for planning!... a solid commitment, ok? ;)

izzy - you can come this time? that would be excellent! Write to me and tell me about your improv troupe and the types of skits etc you do with the troupe. Would be cool to incorporate something along those lines. Whaddya think? Got my email address? if not send me a pm ... putting your name on the email list for planning... a solid commitment, ok? ;) hehe

lucy! -
Remember the night at the Algonquin Hotel in NYC? You had us all rolling on the floor laughing! Can you do that same routine or something similar? write to me... send me your ideas about this, ok? :)

Woohoo! I'm getting psyho... er... pyched!

We're going to have a band... it's in the works... and there's a dance troupe out here which dances to poetry. Hope they're not busy and will work for peanuts... lol... and i'm thinking of a magician... magic would be too cool for the show!

Thanks all for your energy and enthusiasm. Looking forward to planning this with you and seeing you again and working with you again! It'll be a blast!

Where's Hester? - We need a diva vocalist! ;)

D, I've been talking to some of the people w/the troupe and I'm egging them on to come, but most of them have other commitments, some are going home for summer holidays even, so it might just be little ole me... I'll keep trying though... I was hoping it could be all five of us. Can you give me like a week to get them together?

That would be great if they could come! If it's just you, that's fine, too.

I love the idea of putting improv in the show!

If it turns out just to be you alone, send me a pm and we'll talk about how to incorporate some of the improv ideas into the show 'cause I can improv with ya.. or others who are in the cast...

;)

Let me know as soon as you know. Slots are filling fast.

Thanks so much! I'm getting more and more psycho!

(er, psyched... heh.. hey 2x same joke.. so what? cracks me up every time I say it and if I can't make myself laugh, how the heck can i make anybody else laugh? :D)

In a perfect world, I'd be there with bells on. Well, I wouldn't actually wear bells. But I might wear a three-piece suit.

Unfortunately I have no idea where I will be in July, so I can't commit. I'm kindof wingin' it day-to-day these days.
